Know Your Numbers
Every freelancer should know their break-even point. It tells you the minimum revenue needed to keep the lights on. Anything above that is profit. Knowing this number removes the anxiety of 'am I charging enough?' and turns pricing into a math problem.
Break-Even Formula
Break-Even Revenue = Fixed Costs Γ· (1 - Variable Cost Ratio). For example, if your monthly fixed costs are $3,000 and variable costs are 20% of revenue, you break even at $3,000 Γ· 0.80 = $3,750/month in revenue.
